Huna means secret of the hidden knowledge and Ka means keeper. So Kahunas were masters who had a secret knowledge, which they kept only for the tribe’s benefits. There were Kahunas who built boats, houses, and seed plants. Some organised agriculture or managed daily life. Some of them were mystical Shamans who healed people and had a connection with the spirits as well as having deep practical knowledge about human posology (how drugs and potions affect the body) and inner layers. All of them were experts in their field.
